Carriage Crest Teams Up with Local Bookstore to Raise Funds, Promote Literacy

Last month, Carriage Crest Elementary partnered with a local bookstore to do multiple duties: Raise needed funds, respond to lengthy teacher "wish lists," and promote reading.

Tukwila Barnes and Noble was the scene, where Carriage Crest supporters purchased books, CDs, DVDs, cards, stationery, journals and other items over a period of four days.

The more supporters shopped, the more the school earned, as a percentage of the net sale was donated to the school.  Teacher Wish-Lists were also posted to give parents and students some clues about books their teachers like to share with their students.

On one evening, Carriage Crest's PTSA sponsored a “Holiday Fun Night.”  The Carriage Crest Choir, under the direction of Mrs. Hermle entertained shoppers.  Stories were read by Principal Wick, Mrs. Arneson, Mrs. Calonzo, and Mrs. Fish.

Gift wrapping was available done expertly by members of the Carriage Crest staff and their parent community.

"To top off the fun evening, Barnes and Noble provided yummy snacks," said Carriage Crest's Susan Fish.
